Twenty-Two

Killian

I WASN’T ONE to ever want a gig over and done, but Christ it felt like the night had been never-fucking-ending. How was I supposed to concentrate on the show with Levi’s room key burning a hole in my back pocket? Not to mention he didn’t watch from the wings like he usually did. Did that mean he was already back at the hotel waiting for me?

Yeah, with thoughts like that running through my mind, it was a good thing my hands had muscle memory, or I’d have fucked up the show in a big way.

Once we were backstage, I didn’t waste any time. I grabbed my shit from the dressing room in seconds, but before I could head out to the car I had waiting out back, I heard Slade call out, “Yo, Kill, you comin’ out with us?”

I shook my head, my hand on the door. “I’ve got plans.”

“Plans without us?” Jagger said. “Rude.”

No, rude would be leaving Levi waiting. ’Cause then he’d think too much, maybe overthink, and all that thinking could lead to changing his mind, and that was not fucking happening.

“Later,” I said as I headed out the door, practically running to the idling SUV I’d reserved before going onstage. Less than ten minutes later I was in my hotel room, and ten minutes after that I was showered, dressed, and shoving a handful of condoms into my pocket—because after months, only one round with Levi wasn’t going to satiate my hunger.

My heart was already pumping like I’d run a mile, and as I gave myself a once-over in the mirror, I flicked open another button on the shirt I didn’t plan on wearing for long, and then smoothed a hand over my still-wet hair. I hadn’t bothered shaving, so hopefully Levi had a thing for stubble.

I forced in a deep breath, holding it until my chest burned before letting it out.

Showtime.

With the key card Levi gave me in my hand, I made my way down the hall to his room. I didn’t bother to knock, but tapped the card against the lock, and then I opened the door to darkness.

Quietly, I passed through the suite, stopping only when a sliver of light caught my attention.

Levi stood inside the bedroom by the window, his back to me as he looked out over the harbor, the Sydney Opera House lit up in the background. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, and even from across the room I could make out the lean muscles of his back that led down to a pair of sweatpants hanging low around his hips.

Fuuuck.

As if he heard my thoughts, Levi turned around, resting his hands on the window seat as he looked my way. If I’d worried there’d be hesitation on his part, I didn’t need to anymore; the look on his face told me everything I needed to know.

Serious as ever and ready to sin.

Licking my lips, I tossed the key card aside and sauntered into the room, Levi’s eyes drinking me in.
